The Kids Taskforce supports and adds value to the government's Every Child Matters agenda by working with local authorities and many organisations across the country. Its aim is to create a common standard for safety education in every school in Britain.
The taskforce will become a gateway for everyone to access the best safety information for children and share good practice and innovative ideas.
Police officers and firefighters have great expertise in the field of safety and their priority is to keep children safe. The PFA has demonstrated that the most vulnerable children can be reached through sport and together these three organisations are committed to make young people’s lives safer and teach them how develop their own strategies for handling risk.
The Kids Taskforce aims to reach every child with the missdorothy.com and Watch Over Me learning programmes by 2010. Schools where they are already
being used have reported improvements in pupil behaviour and self esteem, a reduction in cases of bullying and a calmer school environment. |
